Afghanistan? 
The news is that millions of Afghans are starving. In the spirit of Jonathan Swift, I too say, “Eat your babies!”  

Like Catholics in Ireland, Muslims in Afghanistan have too many children to feed. Isn’t that the country too – Afghanistan – that produces 90% of the world’s opium, which is then distilled into heroin? Isn’t that the country where farmers choose to plant cash crops rather than edible crops?  

(Aside - Let’s not forget the Opium Wars of the 1800s.  Britain warred for the right to sell opium in China.)

As I once told a French ex-heroin user who was with a group of ex-users which was collecting money for ex-heroin users’ rehabilitation during a festival of some kind in Lyon, France, that I wouldn’t give them a franc since they got to experience the wonders, ecstasy, and joyful bliss of heroin use whereas I never had.

Wonders of wonders, the ex-heroin user smiled conspiratorially at me in blissful remembrance and agreed with me.
